Day 8 - The final full day in Florida

Our final day was still a bit chilly, but with the sun out was warm enough for some beach time before heading back to the snowy tundra of northern Illinois. But how can you complain about 60s and a view like this?

We had to put long sleeves under the sun dresses, but they still looked pretty cute.

Holly's ready to go play! (She looks so tiny there!) Ella's ready to build more castles with Uncle Steve.

Ella and Holly help Nini collect some shells. And in the second pic, I'm pretty sure Jason was just watching Ella, but it's looks like he's doing a no-no on the beach. lol

Vicki and Steve got a workout chasing Holly around the beach. Check the second pic, she kept trying to go into the water!

Ah, technology... why do you confuse us so? HA!

Holly's getting attacked by Steve's shadow. Ooof, that's better.

Sandcastle time! Ella's an expert now, we should have some fun at Lake Michigan this summer. Also, it will be warm enough that it'll be okay if Holly darts for the water. ;)

Getting ready to shoot a family picture... this is the same setup we did last year for this picture.

Just shoot a bunch, maybe they'll smile in one of them!

Well, maybe they will cooperate next time.

Back to sand castles, and a sequence of photos showing why Holly had sand EVERYWHERE. Very amusing, and messy.

Ella was really into making castles and sand molds, but Holly would rather just eat the basket for carrying toys.

A view of the Ram Sea II and the Doubletree (blue balconies). The infamous tiki bar is at the Doubletree. Yummy rum runners. The second pic is a long fishing pier near the condo.

They look like little punks, don't they?

The kite was cooperating a little bit, but the girls didn't seem to care. Not too shabby for a kite that rolls up into a keychain and stays in the Jeep until we need it, eh?

Holly gets so into her books.

Steve shows off some scenery from the condo's pool and the tiki bar.

The clear day led to a beautiful sunset for our last night.

Awwwww, I know. And I wonder if Holly will ever smile for a family picture? She was a bit tired here.

Steve and Vicki don't need any help getting their sunset shot. And the view down from the 5th floor wasn't too scary for me.

The clouds were pretty after the sun "went into the ocean" as Ella would say.

Papa took some leftovers down to the beach and made the seagulls very happy. Mine? Mine? Mine?

Tick-tock, tick-tock... time for bed!
