Scoopin' Genesee July 10-11

Waukegan's Festival, Scoopin' Genesee, took place last weekend. We took a walk down there Friday night with the stroller and brought Pork Chop with us. We went back again on Saturday for the Kids' Fair and took the girls in the stroller. It was a little warm, but not hot.
Holly got to hang out in the stroller while Ella did some big girl things, like the bounce house and trackless train.
I think Ella was mid-wave, but it looks more like "talk to the hand" from this shot. Harris Bank had a tent and gave out kites and tattoos. Hi Hubert!

Ella was a little timid in the petting zoo, but didn't freak out like some of the other kids around there. She didn't feed anyone, but I fed the lama, the donkey, a sheep, and quite a few goats.

Time to head home for lunch and naps!

Recent Pics

Here are some recent pics for you.

They have fun with the ball pit, but sometimes Holly has trouble getting out!

Sometimes they have their snack together at the table. Holly's still learning to sit in the chair, but they're pretty cute there. Holly finished first and wanted to hang out in the drawer for a bit.

Peek-a-boo!

I can still see you!

Holly wants to be a drummer I think! She yells like Animal when she's got sticks in her hands. She's a pretty good dancer too.

I'm not sure what she did, but I think Ella's guilty. And finally, both girls with Papa.

The 4th at Becky and Marty's

One last time, the family gathered at Becky's and Marty's to celebrate the 4th. Despite a little rain it was a great time. There still was quite a population hanging out by the mini kegs despite the drizzle and the kids had a good time running around outside and playing inside. Enjoy the photos!

Enlist the teenagers to watch the kids... check.

Hire the Aunt to toss the baby, play London Bridge, and sing songs... check.

We had to hold Ella down so she would stop to eat something. Thanks for the help, Nini.

I turned the camera viewfinder around and let them see themselves in the screen...

Attempt a photo of the 4 little ones... check.

I think Luke is saying, "Ew... I don't want to hug a girl." And did anyone catch the opposite view of the one of Ella and Natalie? It's probably cute.

Not a baby anymore.

So, many of you know that Holly has been gnawing on the bars of her crib. I am out of ideas about what to do with her, so Jason and I decided to try putting the Elmo toddler bed in there, just to see what happens. I thought she may be chewing on the bars because she's teething, but it's been weeks now. She only chews when she upset and feeling trapped in the crib. She's worn through the white paint and actually had chunks of wood in her mouth. So what's worse - eating tiny pieces of wood, or falling 8 inches onto carpet out of the bed? Hmmmm.

We've been trying to have her nap in the bed when we can pay close attention to the monitor, but so far she's still sleeping in the crib at night. Her first nap was on the July 1 and she slept for a little more than 1 hour - a typical nap for her. She's had 2 other successful naps in there since then. We put Ella in the bed in November and it worked really well. We shall see how Holly takes to it.

We have a gate in her doorway, just like we did with Ella and the room is baby-proofed. I should be getting some funny pictures out of it, just like these of Ella.
